About 2K Classic
benefiting Wounded Warrior Project
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the 2K Classic benefiting Wounded Warrior Project and as befitting college basketball’s premier early-season tournament, the 20th version features three teams ranked in the national preseason polls, thus continuing a tradition that has seen the best of the best grace the Madison Square Garden floor in November.
This year’s tournament field is highlighted by a Syracuse team that year in and year out is ranked among the best in the nation. Led by a Hall of Fame coach, Syracuse has been to the postseason 37 times in Jim Boeheim’s 38 years at the helm of his alma mater. This year, the Orange return three starters and nine underclassmen from a team that was ranked No. 1 in the country for three weeks a year ago. Texas played in its 15th NCAA Tournament last season with no seniors on its roster. Those players are back and are joined by one of the most highly-acclaimed recruits in the country in Myles Turner.
But that is not all that the 2K Classic benefiting Wounded Warrior Project offers. North Dakota State enters the season coming off the two best years in the history of the program, including an NCAA Tournament upset of Oklahoma last season; Alcorn State recorded its most wins since 2002-03 as it continues to rebuild and improve with four starters back; Hampton also has four starters back and has won 82 games over the last five years; and four of the top five scorers from Kennesaw State return as the Owls look to rebuild and get back to the top of the Big South Conference.

In fall 2013, the three-year, historic Transformation of Madison Square Garden was completed, providing a significantly enhanced experience for customers, athletes, entertainers, suite holders and marketing partners, from the first row to the last.

About Wounded Warrior Project (WWP)
MISSION To honor and empower Wounded Warriors.
VISION To foster the most successful, well-adjusted generation of wounded service members in our nation’s history.
Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) began when several veterans and friends, moved by stories of the first wounded service members returning home from Afghanistan and Iraq, took action to help others in need. What started as a desire to provide comfort items to wounded service members at Walter Reed Army Medical Center has grown into a holistic rehabilitative effort to assist warriors with visible and invisible wounds as they recover and transition back to civilian life. Tens of thousands of wounded service members, family members, and caregivers receive support each year through WWP programs.
PROGRAMS WWP programs are specifically structured to engage warriors, nurture their minds and bodies, and encourage their economic empowerment. Warrior families and caregivers are provided comfort, care, and education to help support the recovery of their injured warrior. All programs are provided free of charge for warriors and their families.
See the impact of WWP programs and services at www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
Your generous, tax deductible donation to Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) enables us to help thousands of injured warriors returning home from the current conflicts and to provide assistance to their families. Your donation reaffirms our commitment to meeting Wounded Warriors’ needs for a lifetime. We appreciate your support.
BRANDON HARRIS
Brandon Harris joined the Air Force in August 1995 and spent 10 years on active duty. In 2002, while deployed in the Middle East as an anti-terrorism specialist, he was injured in a Humvee accident during an insurgent attack. A proud husband of 17 years and father of four, Brandon now gives back to wounded service members as a Peer Mentor through Wounded Warrior Project.
PATRICK McKENNA
Patrick McKenna, a Wounded Warrior Project Alumnus, enlisted in the Army National Guard in 2001 so he could afford to attend college. Soon after graduation, he deployed to Iraq for a full tour of duty. After his time in the National Guard, Patrick received his commission as a second lieutenant in the United States Air Force, and is now pursuing his interest in real estate.
JOE WASHAM
In April 2004, an explosion in Iraq left Joe Washam with third-degree burns over forty percent of his body. After re-learning to walk, Joe shared his experience on Capitol Hill to lobby for the passage of three bills to help service members. A current college student and former small business owner, Joe volunteers with Wounded Warrior Project to help raise awareness and ensure that his fellow warriors are not forgotten.
