2K Empire Classic benefiting Wounded Warrior Project Tips Off on Tuesday

Syracuse and Eastern Washington to open tournament at Carrier Dome

PRINCETON, N.J. – The 24th annual 2K Empire Classic benefiting Wounded Warrior Project opens on Tuesday when No. 16 Syracuse hosts Eastern Washington.

The Orange enter the season coming off a 23-win campaign and Sweet 16 appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The Eagles won 20 games a year ago for the third time in four years and earned their fourth straight postseason bid in participating in the College Basketball Invitational.

Syracuse, which has played in more 2K Empire Classics than any other school, is making its sixth appearance (2002, 2004, 2005, 2009, and 2019) and owns a 14-3 record with titles in 2004 and 2009. Eastern Washington is in the 2K Empire Classic for the second time, last appearing in 2013.

After Tuesday, the 2K Empire Classic benefiting Wounded Warrior Project continues on Thursday when Connecticut hosts Morehead State and Iowa is home to UMKC.

Syracuse, UConn, Iowa, and Oregon will travel to New York to participate in the Championship Rounds presented by Continental Tire of the 2K Empire Classic benefiting Wounded Warrior Project. The Orange and Huskies renew their storied rivalry in the first semifinal round game on Thursday, Nov. 15 at Madison Square Garden, followed by the Ducks and Hawkeyes. The consolation and championship games will then be played on Friday, Nov. 16.
