Ladji Dembele is a dynamic forward known for his relentless energy, defensive grit, and steady development on the hardwood. Originally from Mali, West Africa, Ladji's basketball journey has taken him across continents—from Spain to the United States—shaping him into the versatile and disciplined athlete he is today.

2024-25 — Ladji played in all 33 games, earning 21 starts and making a major leap in his collegiate career. He averaged 4.5 points and 3.5 rebounds in 16.7 minutes per game, while shooting an efficient 46.7% from the field and an impressive 38.2% from three-point range. His contributions included standout performances such as an 11-point, eight-rebound game against South Dakota, a perfect shooting night against Iowa State, and a season-high 12 points against New Hampshire. He capped the season with a strong showing in the Big Ten Tournament, scoring eight points and grabbing a season-best nine boards against Ohio State.

2023-24 Honors — Co-recipient of the team’s Best Defensive Player Award. 2023-24 — Ladji was recognized as the co-recipient of his team’s Best Defensive Player Award, a testament to his impact beyond the box score. Appearing in 32 games, he averaged 2.2 points, 2.0 rebounds, and chipped in 15 steals and 14 assists over 11.1 minutes per contest. His growth was evident from the outset, with back-to-back 8-point performances early in the season and a career-high nine points against Florida A&M.

High School — Before college, Ladji played at St. Benedict’s Prep, a national powerhouse where he averaged 16 points, 12 rebounds, and nearly 3 combined steals and blocks per game while shooting 52% from the floor. His leadership helped guide the team to a 25-1 record and a State Prep A championship, earning national recognition. Internationally, he represented Mali at the 2021 FIBA U-19 World Cup, recording 17 points and nine rebounds in a victory over Puerto Rico.

Personal — Originally from Mali in West Africa… born Oct. 16, 2003… son of Sidy Dembele and Kadia Diarra… He comes from a large family with nine siblings and is currently pursuing an open major as he explores academic interests alongside his basketball career.
