UNCW Tops VMI in Roman CBI

DAYTONA BEACH – Mike Okauru scored a game-high 27 points to lead No. 9 UNCW to a 93-78 win over No. 8 VMI in the First Round of the Roman CBI.

In a back and forth first half, the two teams exchanged leads before the Seahawks entered the locker room with a 39-37 lead. The second half saw UNCW explode for 54 points on 53.1% shooting from the field, including 50% from three, to advance to the Quarterfinal Round tomorrow against No. 1 seed Drake.

Jaylen Sims posted 18 points and seven assists for the Seahawks, who also received 13 points from James Baker and 10 points from Shykeim Phillips.

Trey Bonham led the Keydets with 26 points while Jake Stephens added 23 points and eight rebounds.
