UNC Asheville Upsets Stephen F. Austin in Roman CBI

DAYTONA BEACH – No. 13 seed UNC Asheville scored the first upset of the 2022 Roman CBI with an 80-68 win over Stephen F. Austin.The Bulldogs were led in scoring by the duo of Drew Pember and Tajion Jones, who scored 17 and 16 points respectively in the win. Pember also pulled down eight rebounds. Asheville led 34-28 at the break, limiting the Lumberjacks to just 1-of-6 from three. The Jacks ended the game 4-of-18 from behind the arc. Asheville, on the other hand, was 12-of-23 for the game, outscoring SFA 36-12 from long range. Jamon Battle scored 15 points for Asheville, which also received 11 points apiece from Trent Stephney and LJ Thorpe. Stephen F. Austin was led in scoring by the duo of Gavin Kensmil and Sadaidriene Hall who netted 13 points each. Asheville will play Monday against the winner of Sunday’s FAU-Northern Colorado match.
