UMKC captures first ever Division I postseason win, 92-82

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – LaVell Boyd scored 28 points and UMKC went 13-of-23 from three in taking a 92-82 decision from Green Bay in the First Round of the 2017 CBI presented by Five Four. The win was the first-ever Division I postseason victory for the Kangaroos.

Boyd was responsible for five of those 3-pointers in scoring the most points thus far in the CBI First Round.

In all, five Kangaroos netted double figures, including Kyle Steward (20), Darnell Tillman, (11), Isaiah Ross (11), and Broderick Newbill (10). Boyd and Tillman also pulled down seven rebounds apiece.

For the game, the Roos shot 50 percent from the field (28-of-56), while also going 23-of-32 from the line.

Kerem Kanter led Green Bay with 20 points and six rebounds. Charles Cooper posted 17 points and five assists, and Khalil Small had 12 points.

The Phoenix also shot well from the field, hitting 30-of-64 shots. However, they were just 4-of-21 from behind the arc.
