Abilene Christian Completes Semifinal Round Field

DAYTONA BEACH – Damien Daniels made all four free throw attempts in the last 25 seconds to ensure No. 6 Abilene Christian a spot in the Roman CBI Semifinals with a 91-86 victory over No. 3 Ohio.Daniels ended the game with eight points, going 6-of-7 from the line. The Wildcats were paced by Coryon Mason’s 20-point effort. They also received double digit scoring from Airion Simmons who had 18 points along with six assists, 13 points from Immanuel Allen, and 12 points from Cameron Steele. Ohio received a huge blow less than a minute into the game when Jason Carter went down with an arm injury that prevented him from returning. Carter entered the game averaging nearly 14 points a game. Mark Sears scored 37 points, tying for the third highest point output in CBI history, to lead all scorers. The Bobcats also received 19 points and 11 rebounds from Ben Vander Plas and 11 points from AJ Clayton. Abilene Christian will face No. 2 Middle Tennessee in the second Semifinal Round game on Tuesday. In the opener, No. 12 Northern Colorado will face No. 9 UNCW. The doubleheader at the Ocean Center begins at 7:00pm and can be seen on ESPN2.
