Two of the Best

Two of the Best

October 21, 2015

When the 2015-16 college basketball season commences, two of the winningest coaches in the history of the sport will begin their seasons in the 2K Classic benefiting Wounded Warrior Project.

In Durham, N.C., Mike Krzyzewski will start his 36th season as the head coach at Duke having accomplished virtually everything a coach can. His 1,018 career wins (945 at Duke) are more than anyone who has ever patrolled a sideline. His five National Championships rank second only to the 10 won by John Wooden at UCLA. His record of 75-1 as head coach of the USA Men’s National Team has resulted in five gold medals.

Nine hundred and thirty miles northwest of Durham is Madison, Wis., where Bo Ryan will begin his 15th season leading the Badgers. During his tenure, Ryan has guided Wisconsin to heights never imagined in Madison, winning 357 games and leading the team to consecutive Final Fours, where the Badgers dropped the National Championship game to the Krzyzewski-led Blue Devils a year ago. In 32 years as a head coach, Ryan has amassed 740 wins, fifth among active coaches.

They squared off last April for a national title. They may square off next month for the 2K Classic championship. They are two of the very best that ever plied their trades.

Wisconsin will face Georgetown and Duke will meet VCU in the semifinals of the 2K Classic benefiting Wounded Warrior Project at Madison Square Garden on Nov. 20 with the championship and consolation games being played on Nov. 22. Tickets are available at: http://bit.ly/1T10Bfn
