In Richmond, the Spiders started the game on a 19-2 run and built a 55-18 halftime lead en route to a 90-62 win in the Roman Legends Classic presented by Old Trapper that left them at 3-0 for the first time since 2012.

Nick Sherod (pictured) scored a game-high 25 points and hit seven of his nine 3-point attempts, coming within one of the school record for 3-pointers in a game. Jacob Gilyard added 18 for the Spiders to go along with a game-high seven assists. Grant Golden recorded his 11th career double-double, registering 11 points and 12 rebounds despite playing just 18 minutes.

Richmond made its first five shots from the field and had scored 16 points before CSUN recorded its first points of the game on a jumper by Terrell Gomez at the 15:55 mark of the first half. After the Matadors cut the Spiders lead to 21-10, Richmond poured in 22 straight points to build a 43-10 advantage and stretched its lead to 55-18 at intermission. Richmond shot 67 percent from the field in the first half and made seven of 10 shots from three-point range while holding CSUN to just eight field goals on 27 shots (29.6 percent).

Gomez ended the game with 15 points. Brendan Harrick led the Matadors with 17 points, while Michael Ou had 14 points and eight rebounds.

Richmond has scored at least 90 points in all three of its games this season, the first time the Spiders have reached the 90-point mark in three consecutive games since February 1969.

The Roman Legends Classic presented by Old Trapper resumes Monday when Auburn hosts Colgate.
