November 12, 2018

UIC never trailed in regulation but Sincere Carry’s lay-up with one second to go in regulation sent the game into overtime where Duquesne emerged with an 89-88 win over the Flames in the Gotham Classic.

UIC led by 12 points, 74-62, with 3:32 to play. However, the Dukes roared back before Carry (pictured) put it into extra sessions.

In overtime, the Flames’ Godwin Boahen hit a 3-pointer to give UIC an 85-83 lead with 2:34 to play. However, Lamar Norman Jr. countered with a trey of his own 22 second later to put the Dukes up for good, 86-85.

Carry ended the game with 32 points, six rebounds, eight assists and four steals. Norman closed with 12 points and Eric Williams posted a double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds.

Five Flames reached double figures, led by Marcus Ottey, Rob Howard, and Tarkus Ferguson who tallied 18 points apiece with Ferguson adding 11 assists. Boahen ended up with 16 points and Michael Diggins scored 12 points.

Duquesne took advantage of UIC turnovers, converting 20 turnovers into 21 points.

The Gotham Classic resumes on Wednesday when Notre Dame is home to Radford.
