James leads Wyoming to 72-61 win over UMKC

LARAMIE, Wyo. – Justin James posted 21 points and seven rebounds to lead Wyoming to a 72-61 win over UMKC in the Quarterfinals of the CBI presented by Five Four.

The Cowboys jumped out to an 11-0 lead before the Kangaroos came back to cut the lead to 38-32 at the half. Wyoming increased its lead to 61-46 after James hit a jumper with 8:16 to play. UMKC came back to cut the margin to four, 64-60, on a Broderick Newbill jumper with 3:42 left. Wyoming closed the game by outscoring the Roos 8-1 down the stretch to earn the win.

Alan Herndon (14 points), Jason McManamen (11 points), and Jeremy Lieberman (10 points) joined James in double digits for the Cowboys. Dashawn King led UMKC with 16 points. Kyle Steward had 15 points and Newbill scored 10 points for the Roos.
