Jacksonville State emerges victorious in overtime, 80-78

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Canisius’ Isaiah Reese banked a 3-pointer at the end of regulation to send the game into overtime, tied at 71-all. However, in the extra session, Jacksonville State scored the game’s final five points to capture an 80-78 victory.

Malcolm Drumright led the Gamecocks with 20 points. Norbertas Giga had 17 points and 11 rebounds and Jason Burnell posted 18 points and eight boards.

Jacksonville State won the game on the boards, outrebounding the Griffs 53-28 en route to 22 second chance points.

Reese ended the game with 24 points for Canisius. Jermaine Crumpton netted 16 points, Takal Molson had 15 points, and Malik Johnson added 13 points.

The Quarterfinal Round of the CBI will take place on Monday with Campbell hosting New Orleans, Jacksonville State at Central Arkansas, North Texas home to Mercer, and Utah Valley at San Francisco. The four winners will then meet on Wednesday, with the CBI Finals commencing on Monday, March 26.
