Detroit Blows Past Niagara, 96-77

DETROIT, Mich. - Host Detroit used a solid bench effort and a pair of double-double performances to run past Niagara, 96-77 in the final game of the Legends Classic tournament held at Calihan Hall Sunday. Nick Minnerath and Eli Holman were each named to the five-man All-Tournament Team with Holman grabbing Most Valuable Player accolades.
LaMarcus Lowe had his best game as a Titan, posting a line of 12 points, 10 rebounds and six blocks in 21 minutes of action off the bench. Holman also had a double-double, his third straight of the tournament and fifth of the season, with 11 points and 10 rebounds in just 19 minutes.
Detroit will host a pair of games this week, welcoming Akron Wednesday before opening conference play Saturday with a match-up against Wright State.
Notes: Holman was also the MVP of the Coaches vs. Cancer tournament held in Albany, N.Y. last season ... UDM was the host for the three-day, four-team event that also featured Albany and Bowling Green State ... Detroit defeated Albany 84-82 in double overtime Friday and bested BGSU 71-62 Saturday.
