Colonels Roll to 91-43 Win

RICHMOND, Ky. – Four Eastern Kentucky University men’s basketball players scored in double figures as the Colonels defeated Thiel College Tuesday evening in McBrayer Arena, 91-43. This game was part of the 2008 Legends Classic produced by the Gazelle Group. EKU moves to 2-2 while Thiel falls to 1-3.

Senior Mike Rose reached the 20-point plateau for the third straight game as he led all scorers with 24 points. The guard shot 69.2 percent (9-of-13) from the field and added six rebounds. Junior Josh Taylor came off the bench to tally 15 points while junior Papa Oppong and redshirt freshman Deveyon Hunter each contributed 12 points. Junior point guard Dayvon Ellis finished with a personal-high eight assists.

For the Tomcats, Roddy Fuller netted 12 points. Tommy Hall added seven points and a game-high nine rebounds.

The Colonels never trailed on the evening as they scored 11 of the first 13 points. Eastern extended its lead to 26 points at the break, 42-16, thanks to 20 points from Rose.

Eastern Kentucky forced Thiel College into 26 turnovers during the game which led to 42 Colonel points.
This was the first ever meeting between the two schools. Thiel College is an NCAA Division III affiliate located in Greenville, Pa.

The Colonels wrap up the 2008 Legends Classic with two games this weekend at Fairleigh Dickinson. EKU will play host Fairleigh Dickinson on Friday, Nov. 28, followed by Akron on Saturday. Both games are scheduled for 7 p.m.
