TicketCity Legends Classic Bracket is Complete
ESPN networks to televise six Classic games

PRINCETON, N.J. – The schedule and national television coverage for 2011 TicketCity Legends Classic are set.

Texas, Vanderbilt, NC State, and Oregon State will serve as the four Regional Round hosts of the TicketCity Legends Classic with play beginning on Nov. 13. Each will play two games on campus before advancing to the Championship Rounds, Nov. 19 and 21, at IZOD Center in the New Jersey Meadowlands Sports Complex.

Joining Texas, Vanderbilt, NC State, and Oregon State in the fifth annual TicketCity Legends Classic are Boston University, Bucknell, Cleveland State, Hofstra, Morehead State, Princeton, Rhode Island, and West Alabama. In all, nine teams in the field played in the postseason last year - six in the NCAA Tournament, two in the College Basketball Invitational, and one in the NIT. Bucknell and Rhode Island will serve as Subregional Round hosts for games played Nov. 25-27.

ESPN networks will televise six games of the TicketCity Legends Classic, including all four games of the Championship Rounds. The semifinal doubleheader on Nov. 19 featuring Vanderbilt-NC State and Texas-Oregon State will be shown on ESPN3.com beginning at 6:30pm (ET). On Nov. 21, the consolation and championship games will also air on ESPN3.com beginning at 6:30pm (ET).

In addition to the Championship Round games, the Cleveland State at Vanderbilt game on Nov. 13 will air on ESPNU while the Rhode Island at Texas game on Nov. 15 will be televised on ESPN.

THE FIELD

Texas Longhorns - Appeared in each of the last 13 NCAA Tournaments - tied for the fourth-longest streak in the country...Texas, ranked No. 8 in the final Associated Press poll, posted a 28-8 record in 2010-11 with the 28 wins being the third most in school history...the Longhorns have won 20 or more games each of the last 12 seasons...junior guard J'Covan Brown (10.4 ppg) leads a team that welcomes a Top 10 recruiting class in 2011...head coach Rick Barnes has won over 500 games during his career...Texas won the inaugural Legends Classic in 2007.

Vanderbilt Commodores - Posted 20-win seasons six of the last eight years, including going 23-11 in 2010-11...the Commodores have gone to the NCAA Tournament four of the last five seasons...ended the season ranked No. 25 by the Associated Press...Vandy returns 11 of 13 players from last year's team, including all five starters...among the key returning players are junior guard John Jenkins (19.5 ppg), a Southeastern Conference first-team selection, and senior center Festus Ezeli (13.0 ppg, 6.3 rpg), a second-team all-league choice...head coach Kevin Stallings has led the Commodores to unparalleled heights in his 12 years in Nashville.

NC State - Enters the 2011-12 season under the direction of new head coach Mark Gottfried, who previously coached at Murray State and Alabama, leading the Crimson Tide to the Elite Eight in 2004...the Wolfpack return 10 players from last season, including sophomore forward CJ Leslie (11.0 ppg, 7.2 rpg), a member of the ACC all-freshman team, and junior forward Scott Wood (9.7 ppg), who has more three-pointers (135) after his sophomore season than any player in school history after two seasons.

Oregon State Beavers - Have won 43 games over the last three seasons - the most over any three-year span in nearly 20 years...the Beavers won the 2009 College Basketball Invitational in head coach Craig Robinson’s first season at OSU...11 players return for the 2011-12 season, including four starters...leading the way is junior guard Jared Cunningham, a second-team all-Pac-10 selection who led OSU in scoring (14.2 ppg) a year ago...sophomore Ahmad Starks (7.8 ppg) joins Cunningham in the Beavers' back court.

Boston University Terriers - In his first season with the Terriers, former Boston College associate head coach Joe Jones will look to build upon last year's 21-win campaign that resulted in an America East Conference championship and NCAA Tournament bid...the Terriers return 10 players, led by senior guard Darryl Partin, BU's second leading scorer at 14.3 points per game and a first-team all-league selection, and senior forward Patrick Hazel, who led the Terriers with a 5.8 rebounding average and 64 blocked shots to earn a spot on the AE all-defensive team.

Bucknell Bison - Bucknell posted a 25-9 record last year in earning the Patriot League title and a trip to the NCAA Tournament...the Bison return four starters, led by Mike Muscala, the Patriot League Player of the Year who averaged a team-best 14.9 points per game...Brian Cohen (7.0 ppg), who repeated as the PL Defensive Player of the Year, also returns for the 2011-12 season...Dave Paulsen was named PL Coach of the Year last season.

Cleveland State Vikings - The Vikings won a share of their first-ever Horizon League title in going 27-9 and earning a spot in the NIT...four starters return in 2011-12, led by senior guard Trevon Harmon and his 13.2 ppg average...classmate Jeremy Montgomery (11.6 ppg) joins Harmon to form a vastly experienced back court...head coach Gary Waters has guided Cleveland State to three 20-win seasons over the last four years.

Hofstra Pride - Head coach Mo Cassara will turn to senior guard Mike Moore, who has over 1,000 career points after averaging 14.9 ppg a year ago, to lead them in the post-Charles Jenkins era...also back this season is junior forward David Imes, who paced the Pride in rebounding at 6.8 rpg while also tallying 7.6 ppg...last year Hofstra went 21-12 in earning its second straight berth in the CBI.

Morehead State Eagles - Donnie Tyndall guided the Eagles to one of the best seasons in school history, going 25-10, winning the Ohio Valley Conference title, and advancing to the third round of the NCAA Tournament with an upset of fourth-seeded Louisville...this season two starters and eight other players are back, led by senior guards Terrance Hill, who averaged 10.7 ppg, and Ty Proffitt, who added 7.9 ppg and 61 assists.

Princeton Tigers - Mitch Henderson returns to his alma mater as head coach after 11 years as an assistant at Northwestern...Princeton returns four starters from last year's 25-7 Ivy League championship team, including junior forward Ian Hummer, who averaged 13.8 points and 6.8 rebounds a game en route to second-team all-league honors...also returning is senior Douglas Davis (11.9 ppg, team-high 38 steals), whose last second basket in the Ivy playoff game against Harvard sent the Tigers to the NCAA Tournament.

Rhode Island Rams - Jim Baron, a four-time Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year, is in his 11th season at URI...last season the Rams went 20-14, giving them 90 wins over the last four years - the most over any four-year span in school history...junior forward Nikola Malesevic is the Rams' leading returning scorer at 10.3 ppg...senior forward Orion Outerbridge netted 6.8 ppg in helping lead URI to the second round of the 2011 CBI.

West Alabama Tigers - Mike Newell is in his first season as coach of the Tigers after nine years of success at Arkansas-Monticello…junior forward Ryan Fitch is UWA’s lone returning starter, having posted averages of 10.5 points and 6.3 rebounds a game last season.

 

Last year, then No. 10 Syracuse earned an 80-76 win over Georgia Tech to capture the tournament title. Tournament MVP Rick Jackson posted a double-double of 10 points and 14 rebounds in leading the Orange over the Yellow Jackets.
