Schedule and Television Coverage Set for Inaugural Legends Classic

PRINCETON, N.J. – Tennessee, West Virginia, Texas, and New Mexico State will serve as the four regional hosts for the inaugural Legends Classic.

The tournament will tip-off Nov. 14-18 at the regional sites and will conclude with the Championship Rounds Nov. 23-24 at the newly-built Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. Outlined below are the dates, locations and match-ups for the tournament.

Versus, the network that celebrates real competition in all its forms and which is available in 74 million homes in the United States, will nationally televise the semi-final doubleheader on November 23rd and the championship game on November 24th. In addition to showcasing some of the nation’s premier men’s college basketball teams, the Legends Classic was also established to honor former players and coaches from the participating teams that have made a significant contribution to the sport.  The “Legends” will be recognized annually at the event.

Prudential Center is the home of the New Jersey Devils, Seton Hall men’s basketball and the New Jersey Ironmen of the MISL.  It showcases 76 luxury suites, 2,330 club seats, and an array of amenities and conveniences for fans. Prudential Center seats 17,500 people for soccer games, 17,625 for hockey games, 18,500 for basketball games and 19,500 for concerts.

The Northeast Conference (NEC) is the sponsoring conference of the Legends Classic. Now entering its 27th season, the NEC is an NCAA Division I collegiate athletic association consisting of 11 institutions of higher learning located throughout five states.  Media coverage of the NEC extends to four of the largest markets in the United States - New York (#1), Pittsburgh (#22), Baltimore (#24), and Hartford/New Haven (#29).  Founded in 1981 as the basketball-only ECAC Metro Conference, the NEC has grown to sponsor 21 championship sports for men and women and now enjoys automatic or play-in access to 13 different NCAA Championships.  NEC member institutions include Central Connecticut State, Fairleigh Dickinson, Long Island, Monmouth, Mount St. Mary's, Quinnipiac, Robert Morris, Sacred Heart, St. Francis (NY), Saint Francis (PA) and Wagner.  For more information on the NEC, visit www.northeastconference.org.
