
No. 24 Syracuse and No. 4 North Carolina advanced to the championship game of the 2K Sports Classic benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer at Madison Square Garden.
Syracuse was dominant in a 95-73 win against No. 12 as redshirt sophomore Scoop Jardine had his best game in Orange uniform against the Golden Bears. Jardine tallied a personal-best 22 points on 8-for-13 shooting in his first start of the year. He also contributed six rebounds and six assists. In addition, Orange junior Wesley Johnson recorded a double-double with 17 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. He also registered a career-best six blocked shots.
In the nightcap, four Tar Heels scored in double figures as North Carolina withstood a late Ohio State rally in posting a 77-73 win. Deon Thompson had 15 points and nne rebounds to pace the Tar Heels, who also got 14 points from Will Graves, 13 from Marcus Ginyard, and 11 from Larry Drew II.
No. 17 Ohio State will face Cal in the consolation game on Friday at 5:00pm with Syracuse and North Carolina playing in the final. Both games will be televised on ESPN2.
Subregional Round play begins on Nov. 20 in Albany, N.Y., and Miami, Fla. UAlbany, Robert Morris, Detroit, and Alcorn State will play three days of doubleheaders at the SEFCU Arena in Albany from Nov. 20-22. In Miami, FIU will host James Madison, Murray State, and North Carolina Central for round-robin doubleheader action, Nov. 20-23, at U.S. Century Bank Arena. (more)
