VCU defeats Rutgers in BCA Invite second round
All five starters reach double figures for Rams

RALEIGH, N.C. - All five starters scored in double figures as the Virginia Commonwealth Rams beat Rutgers, 71-58, Thursday afternoon at the BCA Invitational in Raleigh, N.C.

Antoine Willie led the way with 19 points, while backcourt mate Domonic Jones had 14 points, six assists and five steals. Willie Taylor (13 points), Konstantin Nesterov (13 points, 8 rebounds) and L.F. Likcholitov (10 points, 10 boards) also reached double digits in points.

VCU (1-1) never trailed in the game, racing to an early 19-9 lead. The Scarlet Knights (0-2) never got closer than within 10 points the rest of the way, as the Rams built a 43-30 halftime lead and led by as much as 24 points (62-38) with13:25 left in the contest.

The Rams shot 54.8 percent from the floor in the first half (17-for-31) and finished making 48.3 percent of their shots (28-for-58). Rutgers connected on just 32.9 percent (25-for-76) from the floor and was just 1-for-16 from three point range.
