Goldsberry scores a game high 21 points against Butler

LARAMIE, Wyo. – John Goldsberry scored 21 points Sunday to give North Carolina-Wilmington a 75-59 victory over Butler in the first game of the Black Coaches Association Invitational.

Todd Hendley added 16 points for the Seahawks (1-0), who led almost the entire game, including by at least 10 points in the second half.

The Bulldogs (0-1) struggled with free throws, making nine of 16 to the Seahawks' 14 of 16.

The Seahawks will play Wyoming, which beat Alabama State 69-54, in the semifinals on Monday.

Goldsberry, who was 4-of-5 from 3-point range with the line extended nearly a foot under experimental rules for the tournament, had seven rebounds and eight assists.

Brandon Polk led Butler with 16 points, while Bruce Horan had 13.

The closest the Bulldogs came in the second half was 45-35 soon after the period began. The Seahawks widened that to as much as 61-44 on a 3-pointer by Beckham Wyrick, who finished with 11 points.

North Carolina-Wilmington led 41-31 at halftime.
