Lehigh turned
the ball over 19 times and shot just 25 percent from the floor in
the first half. It narrowly avoided the team's worst scoring effort
in coach Billy Taylor's four years. Lehigh scored just 39 points
in a loss to Holy Cross on Jan. 31, 2003, during Taylor's first
season at the Mountain Hawks helm.
Butler (2-1)
had few troubles from the start and opened up a 21-6 lead 12 minutes
into the game and entered halftime with a 29-12 edge.
Four different
Bulldogs finished in double-figures. Bruce Horan and Brandon Polk
each had 11 for Butler.
Butler, which
had just four turnovers, also shot 50 percent (10-of-20) from beyond
the 3-point line.
Lehigh, which
made just five field goals in the first half, was led by Kyle Neptune's
11 points. Jose Olivero, who scored 25 points Monday, was held to
just 8 points on 4-of-9 shooting.
