LARAMIE, Wyo.
– Akeim Claborn's layup with 19 seconds remaining gave Alabama
State a 68-67 win over Coppin State for seventh-place in the Black
Coaches Association Invitational on Tuesday.
Trailing by
a point, Alabama State's LaMarquis Blake lobbed the ball into Claborn,
who had an uncontested shot for the winning basket.
Coppin State
still had chances to win the game, but turned the ball over on each
of its final two possessions.
"Get that
monkey off our back," Claborn yelled after the final buzzer
sounded, securing the Hornets' first win of the season.
Claborn finished
with a game-high 22 points and 17 rebounds for his second double-double
of the tournament. He had 19 points and 10 rebounds Tuesday against
Wyoming.

(0-3) was led by Darryl Proctor's 15 points and seven rebounds.
