"We are
very excited that the University of Wyoming will host the 2005 BCA
Invitational," said Floyd Keith, Executive Director of the
Black Coaches Association. "Wyoming is an excellent partner
in strengthening and enhancing the mission of the Black Coaches
Association."
Wyoming is
expected to contend for the Mountain West Conference (MWC) Championship
in the 2005 season. Led by 2004 MWC Defensive Player of the Year
Justin Williams, the Cowboys look to capitalize on their home-court
advantage. Last season, Williams led the conference in blocked shots
(2.89 per game) and was third in field-goal percentage (.571).
Charlotte,
the favorite to win the Atlantic 10 Conference, will begin its quest
toward another postseason appearance as the No. 2 seed in the tournament.
In the past nine years, the 49ers have made seven NCAA tournament
appearances. First-team All-Conference USA and Sports Illustrated
All-American Honorable Mention Curtis Withers leads what could be
one of the best frontcourts in the nation.
The Black Coaches
Association is a non-profit organization whose primary purpose is
to foster the growth and development of minorities at all levels
of sport both nationally and internationally. The BCA is committed
to creating a positive, enlightened environment and common ground
where issues can be examined closely, debated sincerely and resolved
honestly. Throughout the BCA's 15-year history, the organization
has been at the forefront of the effort to enhance the employment
opportunities and professional development of the minority professional.
