Despite losing Gerry McNamara, Syracuse will return 80 percent of their starting five from last year's team. The Orange have a veteran team lead by seniors Demtris Nichols, Terrence Roberts, and Darryl Watkins. In addition, Eric Devendorf who was selected to the BIG EAST All Rookie squad will look to build on his freshman campaign. The veteran squad will be joined by one of the most prized recruits in the country. Freshman Paul Harris, who was named college basketball's preseason Newcomer of the Year by Blue Ribbon Yearbook, will join Devendorf in the backcourt.

Penn returns four of its top five scorers from the 2005-06 Ivy League championship season. Returning are three seniors who have earned All-Ivy honors twice in their career, Ibrahim Jaaber, Mark Zoller, and Steve Danley. Jaaber is looking to become fifth player in Ivy League history to earn player of the year honors two times. St. Francis returns a solid group form last year's squad, led by Allan Sheppard who was the 2004-05 NEC Rookie of the Year. In addition, the Terriers will be lead by point guard Jamaal Womack who averaged 2.7 assists per game. First year head coach Tony Barbee takes over a UTEP team with three returning letterwinners, and a talented group of newcomers. The Miners are coming off an injury plaqued season where they still advanced to the NIT.
