Box Score

SEATTLE – Kyle Landry scored 18 points and Northern Arizona earned seventh place in the Black Coaches Association tournament with a 71-51 victory over winless Morgan State on Tuesday.

Landry, a 6-foot-9 sophomore forward from Calgary, Alberta, landed hard on his left wrist underneath the basket after being run into by Morgan State's Joseph McIver while attempting a fastbreak layup with 12:46 left. He was given two free throws and hit them both before leaving the game, but returned later from the bench in the second half and added two more baskets.

After the game, Landry said he thought his wrist was not swollen and he thought it would be fine. He said he didn't think it would require X-rays.

The Big Sky Conference Lumberjacks (1-2) used their reserves liberally in the second half after stretching their lead to 23 points -- at 48-25 -- with 11:37 to play.

The Bears (0-3) trailed 27-12 at halftime, shooting only 22 percent (6-for-27) and scoring only two baskets in the final 15 minutes of the first half.

Northern Arizona used 11 players and nine of them scored, with Ruben Boykin getting 12 points. For Morgan State, coached by former NBA player Butch Beard, Timothy Mathis had 13 points, James Reed 12 and Andrew Lee 11.

The Bears led only once in the game -- at 2-0. Then Landry sank a short jump hook and freshman guard Josh Wilson, from Longview, Wash., hit a 3-pointer with 3:03 gone and Northern Arizona never trailed.

Leading 9-8 with 5:04 gone, and Lumberjacks outscored the Bears 18-4 in the rest of the first half to break the game open.

Northern Arizona shot 44 percent (24-for-55) while Morgan State was limited to 35 percent shooting (20-for-57). The Lumberjacks outrebounded the Bears 35-30, with Boykin collecting seven and Kelly Golob six for the winners.
